The Tractive Suspension – ACE system can run in super compliant supple ride and the moment a sharp or positive action is input whether steering, acceleration or deceleration the damper reacts. Going from full hard to full soft or vice versa in less than 10 milli sec. (Less than 1/100th sec). Its simply unbelievable and for a road and track or just fast road user transforms the car.
The R-ACE system allows on the fly adjustment. Should the track surface change mid race or track session, if your tyres go off mid race or the balance change you can adjust the balance and settings via the remote control.
As with all our Suspension, we have personally developed and used this active suspension before releasing it to our customers.
It’s a little odd to say this is Plug n Play for a car part but with the Active Suspension taking care of everything this really is an all round suspension system that will adapt to the driving conditions and driving style.
I have made changes via the remote control nearly every time I have used the dampers and on each occasion, I have felt the change but can 100% say that the suspension has then adapted itself and I have not once felt under or oversteer. (I did once when set to full hard on the DDA – Dynamic Damping Adjustment – experience some oversteer at the very limit of grip in a high-speed corner. Nearing 1.7g the rear broke loose but the damping simply controlled everything along with some steering input. I did not even lift off the throttle.

Adjustment can be made to the ride front and rear separately, roll and dive/squat all from the comfort of the driver’s seat – whilst on the move if needed.
Along with the electronic adjustment the R-ACE dampers have remote canisters to provide even greater adjustment to high and low-speed compression forces.

Tractive Suspension started 1st of June 2010 after WP Suspension moved from the Netherlands to Austria. The ex-WP core development team used this opportunity to start Tractive Suspension. Immediately the staff realised that the future in suspension is in electronically adjustable suspensions, not in marginally optimizing already fine-tuned suspension.
Tractive develops technologies with electronic control of damping and ride height. The millisecond fast, patented damping adjustment valve (DDA Dynamic Damping Adjustment), which allows for active body control, is one of the many existing examples. Based on this electronic know-how, the Tractive R&D department started doing prototyping & development work for OEM customers like BMW.
Tractive has in one hand everything that is needed for electronic suspension prototypes: experienced staff, shock absorber components, control units, sensor, actuators and algorithms.
The combination of technical know-how and our small till medium size scale production makes Tractive an attractive proposition for development projects. When a vehicle manufacturer is looking for ways to modernise or “electrify” his suspension, he will find Tractive as an independent consulting partner or Proof-Of-Concept supplier. Tractive works on projects from concept phase till release for production, including supplier selection, pre-production series, engineering and ride-work.
